The journey of Squirrel IP began with a simple but profound realization. Akshat Mohite, one of our co-founders and a scientist by profession, often discussed the challenges innovators face when trying to commercialize their breakthroughs. Through conversations with inventors, we discovered a recurring theme—the struggle to bridge the gap between groundbreaking innovations and the industries that could bring them to market. This insight led us to dig deeper, and what we found was startling: In India, while around 90,000 patents are filed annually, only a fraction of them actually make it to the market. Recognizing the gravity of this issue, we knew that something had to be done to change this landscape. And so, in 2024, we founded Squirrel IP with a single goal in mind—to make patent commercialization easier, more accessible, and more efficient for innovators and industries alike.

We began with a simple idea: a marketplace to connect industries with innovators. However, we quickly realized that the commercialization process is complex, with innovators facing challenges like creating effective pitching materials. To address this, we developed an AI-powered patent analytical tool that offers insights into patent valuation, market trends, and industry applications, helping innovators present their patents more effectively.
Understanding that industries need more than just a marketplace, we expanded our services to include custom patent solutions and technology scouting to meet their specific needs. Central to our mission is building a community of innovators, where knowledge and resources are shared, fostering collaboration and co-creation to help innovations thrive.
